Giro Epynt 2011

After seven Dragon Rides we thought it was time to try our hand at running a second event. In 2004 the Dragon was one of the first UK sportives; now there are hundreds.

What we wanted from our second ride was something slightly different from other sportives in Britain. So the Giro Epynt was born. The ride will be held on the Ministry of Defence Army training ranges at Sennybridge, to the north of the A40 brecon - Llandovery road. For many years the tarmac roads in this area has been used for car rallying, in fact the Rally Wales GB annually visits the location.

This area gives us the ability to run a sportive over closed roads. The other novel feature will be the format of the event. A 10 mile / 16 Kilometre loop with approximately 300 metres of climbing per lap. Entrants can choose to ride as many laps as they like while the course is open. The start/finish area will be the location of the timing mats and the feed station.

Initially we hoped to stage this event in September 2010, however due to MOD requirements this was not possible. If dates allow we will now hold the ride in the spring of 2011.
